Tea as a home remedy for rosacea

Tea is an important companion in the fight against rosacea in several ways: many plants and spices have a positive effect on skin health.

A tea is a good way to create an extract from the active ingredients of plants and spices. You can then apply this extract to your skin.

Studies show 1 also show that different types of tea are good for intestinal health. Four to five cups of green tea, for example, improve the microflora in the gut.

Another study 2 showed that a healthy bacterial microflora in the gut can lead to an improvement in rosacea symptoms. Tea works well against rosacea from the outside and from the inside.

The following teas are particularly suitable for rosacea flare-ups.

Chamomile tea reduces redness on the face

Chamomile has an anti-inflammatory effect and reduces inflammatory processes and reddening of the skin. Ingredients of this plant, such as terpenoids and flavonoids, can soothe sensitive skin.

Simply brew chamomile tea, which you can leave to infuse for up to ten minutes. The tea is also suitable for drinking afterwards.

Leave the tea bag to cool for half an hour, then place it on the affected areas of skin.

Leave it there for at least 15 minutes. Repeat the application in the morning and evening.

Green tea for sensitive facial skin

The plant substances contained in green tea reduce redness on the face, accelerate healing and have an antioxidant effect.

Prepare green tea several times a day. You can drink this, but you can also leave it to cool and soak a clean cloth in it.

You can place the cloth on the areas of skin affected by rosacea and leave it on for a few minutes. Repeat the treatment twice a day.

Dandelion tea to build up your intestinal flora

Dandelion contains various substances that can help with digestion and diuresis (urine drainage). 3

The roots, as well as the dandelion herb and leaves, help with loss of appetite and digestive problems.

Dandelion tea also supports digestion and can therefore help to build up healthy intestinal flora.

A healthy gut in turn plays an important role in alleviating the skin condition.

Curcuma tea as an anti-inflammatory

Curcuma or turmeric is a spice that is the main ingredient in curry powder, among other things.

The bright yellow spice also has tangible health benefits: It is said to promote the flow of bile, protect the liver and help against inflammation. 4

As rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease, nutrients that have an anti-inflammatory effect are particularly welcome.

If you drink turmeric tea regularly, it can therefore influence your metabolism and improve the appearance of your skin.

Simply make a tea from the spice twice a day and drink it. The tea should simmer over a medium heat for five to ten minutes.

However, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should refrain from consuming too much curcuma.5

Honey – disinfects and cares for the skin

Honey is known for its antibacterial and disinfectant properties.

The anti-inflammatory effect of honey can also help with inflammatory conditions such as rosacea. At the same time, the natural substance leaves the skin feeling beautiful without a greasy film.

Use of honey for rosacea:

  • Gently apply a little honey to the affected areas
  • Leave the honey to soak in for around 30 minutes
  • Rinse off honey with lukewarm water and slow, circular movements

Apple cider vinegar to reduce bad bacteria

Like honey, apple cider vinegar is also known for its anti-inflammatory, disinfectant effect.

The liquid has been used as a rosacea home remedy for hundreds of years. Incidentally, apple cider vinegar helps to kill the “bad” skin bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, which are responsible for rosacea.

You can dilute apple cider vinegar with water in a ratio of 1:4 and dab it onto the skin once a day with a cotton pad. About ten minutes later, rinse the apple cider vinegar thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Suck ice cubes and reduce redness

Ice cubes can provide short-term relief for rosacea on the cheeks, nose and cheeks. When you suck ice cubes, they cool your cheeks from the inside out.

This causes blood vessels to contract, redness is reduced and nodules shrink.

Natural phages to strengthen your skin flora

Rosacea is also triggered and promoted by too many ‘bad’ skin bacteria. These bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, cause inflammation and reddened skin.

However, the use of bacteriophages has been proven to sustainably reduce these nasty bacteria.

Phages can rebalance the skin’s natural protective layer by destroying the ‘bad’ skin bacteria.

The skin can regenerate and you get an even, clean complexion in which you feel comfortable.
